Ordering a door entry handset

When ordering a handset for a door entry system, you should check first if it will be compatible with your existing system.

We see mistakes every day, customers ordering a handset they like, or one that looks similar to theirs, only to find it will not work when it arrives, this is both time consuming, costly and could easily be avoided.

NOTE: Failure to check a handset is compatibel before ordering could damage your system and having a non returnable product you cannot use.

Check first

Is your system manufacturerd by the company who makes the handset you have chosen - if not, it will not work.

Handsets that say they are "universal" are only universal when connected to the same manufacturers systems.

Replacing old handsets

Replacing an old/broken handset - it is very likely the product is discontinued, you should remove the cover and obtain the part code (someties called ART No.) from inside first, then call the manufacturer who can advise which new handset model will be a suitable replacement (see list of contact numbers below), please bear in mind that the replacement may have different connections and may require programming to your system by a qualified engineer, in which case it is not a DIY project.

Do you live in an apartment building?

NOTE: If you are trying to replace a handset in a block of apartments, STOP - you must request the building management team do this for you, trying to fit an incompatible handset could damage the whole system making you liable for a potential bill of thousands of pounds.
